Who Was Allord?

In pre-Roman Ancient Britain, the Druid religion embraced a hierarchy of deities of varying stature and notoriety, all basically drawing their power from Mother Earth.  Thus, the religion was closely tied to nature and the creatures that inhabited the woodlands and waterways of the land.  While many were known by the same names throughout the land, some of the lesser  deities were known by different names in various parts of the country. Allord was one of the latter, known primarily in western Britain and Wales. His primary duty was as the caretaker of the forests and waters that covered the area. Often associated as a vassal to Cernunnos (aka Cerne and Herne), Lord of the Forest Animals and the Hunt, evidence of Allord’s Hand was believed to be seen in the “faces” and “figures” in the designs of knots and bark in tree trunks. In Winter, he was especially artistic with the beautiful frost patterns that covered the frozen streams, ponds and lakes. It is, therefore, this studio’s desire to preserve the sentiment of that ancient belief by creating sculptures that glorify nature’s creations, animate and inanimate, mythical and real.  Each piece of sculpture attempts to evoke the unique qualities ascribed to the subject depicted, as well as project a sense of beauty and nobility.
